Wainwright "Chapters" Book Club

The club has been in existence since June of 1997. It meets every six weeks or so except for the summer months.
On Sundays evenings, we meet at a local restaurant that is not open that night. But the owner of the Galleria comes in to do baking. Since she is a great believer in literacy, she feeds us dessert and coffee/tea etc for $3.00 a person. Each meeting lasts about two hours.
Our selection criteria is simple. Each member gets to lead the discussion on a favorite book. At the meeting they give a little bio on the author and then moderate the discussion on the book. No particular rules exist except to please show up, and no whining about choices of book.
So far all of our members have been women. So I guess we have a women's bent but not because of anything in particular. It has just been hard to get men members...we are always trying.
Members range between 30 and 50 years in age. We have an optometrist, a librarian, some farm women, a service industry employee, couple of nurses, and a teacher, etc.
We have read:
Fall on Your Knees by Ann Marie MacDonald.
Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood.
Stones from the River by Ursula Hegi.
Lives of the Saints by Nino Ricci
Barney's Version by Mordecai Richler
Swann by Carol Shields
Dance Me Outside by W.P. Kinsella
